Xzerno collects information you submit through the following surfaces. Some categories describe the public website, and some describe the Xzerno application and its roommate features.

Xzerno account and application

When you create a Xzerno account or use the Xzerno application, Xzerno may collect:

• Email address
• Password credentials handled through secure authentication
• Email-verification status
• Authentication and session information
• Account status
• Records of legal-document acceptance (Terms, Privacy Policy, Community Rules)
• Password-recovery activity
• Information entered into your roommate profile
• Security, error, and account activity information

Retired early-access form and historical submissions

The Xzerno website previously offered a public early-access form. That form has been retired and is no longer accepting new submissions. People who used it previously supplied information such as:

• First name
• Email address
• City
• Move-in timeline
• Housing situation
• Approximate budget
• Roommate priorities
• Optional TikTok username
• Marketing consent

Historical early-access information may be retained in accordance with this policy, legal obligations, consent and unsubscribe records, fraud prevention, and legitimate business recordkeeping. People who previously joined may still exercise the privacy rights described below.

Roommate marketplace information

When you use roommate profiles, discovery, compatibility, connection requests, and messaging inside the Xzerno application, Xzerno collects additional information, including:

• Living preferences
• Deal-breakers
• Compatibility preferences
• Connection requests
• Messages
• Reports and safety submissions
• Additional verification information

This Privacy Policy will be updated as material new functionality is introduced.

Xzerno may collect the following automatically:

• Device type
• Browser type
• Approximate location derived from IP address
• Pages visited
• Referring page
• Date and time of visits
• Interaction information
• Error and performance logs
• Cookies or similar local technologies
• Saved theme preference

Approximate analytics location is derived from IP address and is not the same as a precise home address or live GPS location.

Xzerno lets you know about activity on your account — connection requests, accepted requests and new messages — inside the Xzerno application and, if you allow it, as push notifications on your device.

To do this, Xzerno keeps:

• A record of each notification: the kind of activity, the member it concerns, and when it happened
• Whether you have seen or opened it
• If you allow push notifications: the delivery address your browser or device provides, the keys used to encrypt notifications to it, the type of device, and when each notification was sent or failed to send
• Which conversation you have open while you are viewing it, so Xzerno does not send a push notification about a conversation you are already reading

Notifications never contain the text of your messages. A push notification shows only a short line such as "New message from Noor", which may be visible on your lock screen.

Push notifications are delivered through the push service provided by your browser or device maker (for example Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft). That service receives the delivery address and the notification in encrypted form.

You can turn push notifications off at any time under Notifications in the application's Settings, or in your browser or device settings. Signing out removes that device's delivery address. Opened notifications are deleted after 90 days, and delivery records after 30 days. Your notifications and delivery addresses are deleted when you delete your account, and are included when you request a copy of your data.

Xzerno uses information to:

• Operate the website and Xzerno application
• Create and secure Xzerno accounts
• Retain historical early-access records
• Understand city-level demand
• Review product requests
• Respond to users
• Improve Xzerno
• Prevent fraud and abuse
• Enforce rules
• Protect users and the platform
• Send updates where consent was provided
• Meet legal obligations
• Develop new features

When a user reports another user, Xzerno reviews the report to decide what, if anything, to do about it. That review can include reading the conversation between the two users and examining the reported profile, photos, and account history.

Xzerno keeps this to what the review needs:

• Only the reported conversation, profile, or content is examined
• Only people carrying out the review have access
• Each review access is recorded
• The outcome is not shared with the reporter or with anyone else

The conduct these reviews measure against is set out in the Community Rules.

• Product emails are sent only where the user provided appropriate consent.
• Users can unsubscribe at any time.
• Follow-up permission on a product request is different from marketing consent.
• Submitting a product request does not automatically enroll someone in marketing.
• Transactional or safety-related communications may still be sent when necessary.

Xzerno may share information with:

• Hosting providers
• Database providers
• Email-delivery providers
• Push-notification services provided by browser and device makers, to deliver notifications you have allowed
• Analytics providers
• Security and fraud-prevention providers
• Professional advisers
• Government authorities when legally required
• A successor organization during a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer

Roommate discovery, compatibility, connection requests, and messaging are live inside the Xzerno application. When you publish your roommate profile, some profile information is visible to other users so they can evaluate compatibility.

• Do not place private addresses, financial account numbers, identification numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information in public profile fields.
• Privacy settings may control some visibility.
• Information voluntarily shared in conversations may be seen and saved by the recipient.
• Xzerno cannot control what another user does after receiving information.

Use caution before sharing:

• Phone numbers
• Personal email addresses
• Employer details
• Exact home addresses
• Financial documents
• Government IDs
• Lease documents
• Banking details

Xzerno may retain information:

• While needed to provide services
• While your Xzerno account remains active
• To honor historical early-access records, consent, and unsubscribe requests
• To respond to product requests
• To prevent fraud or abuse
• To meet legal obligations
• To resolve disputes
• For legitimate business recordkeeping

Retention periods may differ by data type.

Xzerno uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information.

No online service can guarantee perfect security. Users should protect their own accounts and take care with the information they share.

Depending on applicable law, users may request:

• Access to information
• Correction
• Deletion
• Withdrawal of marketing consent
• Unsubscription
• Information about applicable privacy rights

Xzerno is initially operated from the United States. Xzerno does not claim full international legal compliance or global availability.
