Community Guidelines
Xzerno helps adults discover potential roommates. Every user chooses for themselves whom to contact, meet, trust, or live with. These guidelines help keep the marketplace respectful, honest, and safer, but they do not replace personal judgment or independent verification.

1.You control your connections
- Users are not required to connect with anyone.
- Users may decline requests.
- Users may stop responding.
- Users may unmatch.
- Users may block someone.
- Users do not owe another person a meeting.
- Users do not owe an explanation for declining.
- Mutual interest does not create an obligation.
- A compatibility result does not mean users must live together.
2.Be honest
Keep the following accurate:
- Identity information
- Profile photographs
- City
- Move-in plans
- Budget
- Housing status
- Room availability
- Living preferences
- Smoking information
- Pet information
- Guest expectations
Do not pretend to own, manage, or control a property that you do not.
3.Respect boundaries and consent
Do not:
- Send repeated unwanted messages
- Pressure users to move off-platform
- Pressure users to meet
- Pressure users to share phone numbers
- Pressure users to share social media
- Make sexual advances
- Use Xzerno for romantic solicitation unrelated to roommate search
- Threaten users after rejection
- Stalk users
- Follow someone to another platform after being blocked
4.No discrimination or hateful conduct
Users must comply with applicable housing and anti-discrimination laws.
Do not:
- Use slurs
- Use dehumanizing language
- Post unlawful discriminatory listings
- Post unlawful exclusionary statements
- Harass users based on protected characteristics
- Attempt to use Xzerno to facilitate illegal housing discrimination
Laws vary. Users should seek qualified legal guidance when unsure about what is permitted in their location.
5.No fraud or scams
Do not use Xzerno to run or facilitate:
- Fake rooms
- Fake properties
- Fake leases
- Fake identities
- Deposit scams
- Advance-fee scams
- Requests for gift cards
- Requests for cryptocurrency
- Pressured wire-transfer requests
- Fake checks
- Phishing links
- Requests for login codes
- Requests for Social Security numbers
- Requests for banking passwords
- Impersonation of Xzerno staff
- Claims that Xzerno guarantees a payment or property
6.Financial safety
Recommended practices
- See the property in person or by video
- Verify who controls the property
- Review a written agreement
- Keep payment records
- Avoid irreversible payment methods
- Seek professional help when unsure
7.Protect private information
Do not share prematurely:
- Exact home address
- Social Security number
- Banking credentials
- Credit-card information
- Account passwords
- One-time security codes
- Copies of identification
- Sensitive work documents
- Immigration documents
- Full financial statements
You control what you voluntarily disclose. Once shared, Xzerno cannot recall information from another user.
8.Meet more safely
Before meeting
- Review the profile carefully
- Ask direct questions
- Consider a phone or video conversation first
- Tell someone where you are going
- Meet in a public place first
- Arrange your own transportation
- Keep your phone charged
- Avoid carrying large amounts of cash
- Do not feel pressured to visit a private residence immediately
During and after
- Leave if something feels wrong
- Do not accept pressure
- Do not share keys or access codes too early
- Do not move in without understanding the agreement
- Block and report concerning conduct
These are general precautions, not a safety guarantee.
9.Inspect and verify housing independently
Xzerno does not inspect properties. Independently verify:
- The property exists
- The room exists
- The person has authority to offer it
- Occupancy is permitted
- The lease allows roommates
- Subletting is allowed
- Utilities and costs are clear
- Property condition is acceptable
- Local requirements are satisfied
10.Roommate compatibility is personal
- Xzerno uses user-provided preferences.
- People may describe themselves differently from how they behave.
- Habits can change.
- A strong compatibility result is not a guarantee.
- Discuss cleaning, guests, noise, bills, pets, schedules, food, chores, and conflict handling directly.
- Consider a written roommate agreement where appropriate.
11.No sexual, romantic, or exploitative use
Xzerno is for roommate discovery. Do not use Xzerno for:
- Dating solicitation
- Sexual services
- "Room for favors" arrangements
- Coercive housing offers
- Exploitation
- Trafficking
- Requests for sexual activity in exchange for housing
- Predatory conduct
12.No illegal or dangerous activity
Do not use Xzerno for:
- Violence
- Threats
- Drug trafficking
- Weapons trafficking
- Human trafficking
- Theft
- Fraud
- Illegal surveillance
- Property damage
- Other unlawful conduct
13.Reporting and blocking
When marketplace features are live, users will be able to:
- Block another user
- Report a profile
- Report a message
- Report fraud
- Report threats
- Report discriminatory conduct
- Contact support through the Xzerno contact page
- Blocking stops direct interaction where supported.
- Reporting is private where practical.
- Xzerno may request more information.
- Reports do not guarantee a specific enforcement outcome.

- Warn users
- Remove content
- Restrict messaging
- Hide profiles
- Pause accounts
- Suspend accounts
- Permanently remove accounts
- Preserve evidence
- Cooperate with valid legal requests
Enforcement may depend on:
- Severity
- Repetition
- Available evidence
- Safety risk
- Legal obligations
16.Xzerno provides the marketplace. You make the decision.
